Characteristic
The characteristic of a centering and clamping mechanism is that the positioning and clamping are completed by the same (or group of) components, that is, using this component to approach (or retreat) a certain symmetrical axis or plane at a constant speed, or using the uniform elastic deformation of the component to complete the positioning, clamping, or loosening of the workpiece. Due to the use of a centering clamping device, the symmetrical axis, plane, or centerline are the positioning reference for the workpiece, which can prevent displacement of the positioning reference and result in zero displacement error of the reference. If the symmetrical axis, plane, or centerline are also the process reference of the workpiece, then the positioning reference coincides with the process reference. If the reference does not coincide, the error is zero, and the total positioning error is zero. It is precisely due to these characteristics that the positioning reference of the workpiece remains unchanged and does not produce displacement, thus achieving the function of centering and clamping. Therefore, the centering and clamping mechanism is mainly applicable to the positioning and clamping of workpieces with geometric symmetry and based on the symmetrical axis, plane, or centerline as the process reference.
